It’s that time of the year again: that seasonal dilemma of what to wear to the annual holiday party. Not that we’re suckers for “rules” when it comes to personal style, here are 10 holiday style ideas to help you steal the scene and own the room!

#1. Sequined Emerald

The arrival of Thanksgiving means the holiday party season is upon us. And while we’ve seen lots of festive embellishments on the runways, the latest look to captivate is the one that’s making everyone a tad green, emerald, with envy. Sequined, sparkling envy to be specific. With a clever extended-hem tunic over a skirt, or a pair of short shorts in place of trousers, the look is festive, punchy, and downright exuberant!

#2. The Jumpsuit Alternative

Yes, it’s been around since the dawn of fashion, but the latest high-fashion versions favor plunging (as far south as possible) necklines, flirty cut-outs, and fitted silhouettes. When little-black-dress-boredom sets, consider the jumpsuit a fresh, inspired alternative.

#3. Ravish In Red

Behold the season’s hottest shade! If you’re looking to stand out in a crowd, there are few colors more attention-grabbing than red! From a floor-length gown to a knee-skimming cocktail dress to a whimsical full skirt, few colors scream “let’s party!” louder than red!

#4. Winter-White Lace

As peak party season quickly approaches, there won’t be a better time like now to get a jump on fashion-forward winter white looks. And lace is the perfect way to make the leap! A neckline embellished with lace trim mimics icicles, while a snowflake pattern on the bodice and skit of a dress lends a spirited, seasonal tone.

#5. Bejeweled Locks

When the holiday party is the destination, it’s pretty likely that most of the head-turning action will happen in the ensemble as opposed to the accent pieces. To keep things merry, without overdoing it, bejeweled hair accessories are fun, easy alternatives to statement earrings and necklaces.

#6. Go For The Gold

When it comes to holiday dressing, gold adds a touch of grandeur without pretension; it can instantly lift any look, giving its wearer a sense of refined polish. While disco-inspired gold sequins are likely to keep you on the dance floor for the night, sheer versions of the hue will undoubtedly put you at the top of the evening’s “best-dressed” list.

#7. Eye Bling

The tinsel effect of twinkling silver, glittery eyes is as classically holiday (and as irresistible) as a glass of spiked eggnog. What makes this look so fresh is that the rest of the face is clean. When stealing the scene is brushstroke easy, glittery eyes are the way to go this season!

#8. Head-to-Toe Prints

As the holiday party invites pour in, finding an outfit that will stop traffic, while still being appropriate and fashion-forward can be tougher than ever. Too avant-garde and people will scratch their heads. Too boring and no one will notice you. This is where a head-to-print steps to keep your look in-check and on-point. As long as the color is on the low-key side (blues, reds, grays and silvers) and the pattern is consistent, you’re good!

#9. Dark Lips

Just because we’re post-Halloween, doesn’t mean you can’t continue rocking bewitching makeup shades throughout the rest of the holiday season. In fact, a dark lip – raisin, black cherry, and burgundy – has a knack for taking a simple look to the next stand-out level.

#10. Mile-High Slits

While it’s has been regarded as either too fashion-forward or too suggestive, the high slit is making its way from the red carpet to the center of the holiday party this season. But how high is too high? As long as you balance things out at the top – a shell-cut bodice or long-sleeve blouse – feel free to go as high as your mood takes you!
